Unforgettable hotel. The staff speaks all languages and is too kind.
The rooms are spacious and the welcome is felt with a glass of Porto or macaroons.

I have never had a worse experience with a hotel.
Our room was not available when we arrived, and we were told it would be ready within the hour. They told us to enjoy free drinks while we waited, but then charged my mother for these drinks and refused to refund her. Over 2 months later, I have still not been refunded.
It was nearly 2 hours before our room was ready, which impacted our stay significantly, as we were only staying one night, leaving at 4 in the morning.
The water from the shower poured ALL OVER the bathroom due to a faulty seal. I saw a review on Trip Advisor from 2016 that mentioned this very issue, which had clearly (still) not been fixed.
In email communication following this stay, staff has been incredibly unresponsive. I have kindly followed up on emails, as I never get a reply, after waiting for weeks. I was attempting to negotiate a partial refund (as we weren't able to use our room during the brief period of time we had paid to reserve it), but I am not getting replies.
I would stay anywhere else before the Editory Artist Hotel. I paid a lot of money for this stay, and I will always remember it, not only as the worst experience I've had at a boutique hotel, but the worst customer service, ever.

This was a great find for our stay in Porto. The location was out of the crowded touristy areas, and only a few short blocks to the restaurants, pedestrian walkway, shops, etc. It was quiet, even with construction happening next door. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. We did not sample the restaurant on this visit, but it looked and sounded great. The bar area was a separate room, and was very nice and comfortable. There was a great outside area in front that had tables and chairs. The art work all around the hotel was impressive.
Probably the best part of this stay at the Editory, was the people. The whole staff were so friendly, and attentive, and seemed to truly enjoy their jobs. Heldad and Joao checked us in. Heldad was great - he sat down with us, and detailed all that Porto had to offer, with his take on what we might, or might not enjoy seeing. The other front line folks were just as friendly and attentive.
I would definitely stay here again, and I would recommend it!

We had a nice stay. The room was very large, with a large comfortable bed. All very clean. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice, always willing to help.
One downside was the bathroom, not very practical. Opening the bathtub "window" would put a lot of water on the ground. And there was not enough places to hang towels.

Where to start…
The service tries to be helpful but just ignores your actual request. We asked for a place for a quick bite to eat. What followed was a 20 min explanation of everything there was in Porto. We even stopped them once and said we only wanted to know where to go. They did not care, they continued on talking about the bus system for 5 more minutes without ever giving us a recommendation.
Hospitality is not their concern. After a long day of travel we asked for an early check in at 1230. They told us it would be 2+ hours. Note that this is a small hotel and they could have reordered the rooms they clean to get ours done first, but our comfort wasn’t their concern.
Stay far away if you want a peaceful stay. The staff ensures that does not happen.
